In a coastal garden with coconut palms and 33 species of visiting bird life, The Write Place hosts its verandah residency and retreat for Storytellers and Writers offering:

Writing techniques stimulated by 6th Century Tamil heritage of sculpture
Reflection, readings and discussion on contemporary writing
Head and heart space into the independent craft of writing for completion

The Write Place includes accommodation of participants in Single Deluxe a/c rooms for 5 nights with Bed and breakfast at Mammalla Heritage Hotel in the beachtown of Mammallapuram on the southern easterly Bay of Bengal.

The daily sessions are held at The Write Place including lunch. Participants begin as a group and have independent sessions with the Programme Convenor over the scheduled days.

Each Edition of The Write Place has a theme and a daily activity to stimulate writing around local culture and individual writing projects enabling observation and perspective from a diverse discourse.

A poem, a short story, an essay or commentary are catalysts and these are the focus in this practitioner led residency.
